About FLOESSENCE

Everyone should get to feel truly at home in your own body.

FLOESSENCE was founded by Floriana Dezou, an artist and embodiment practitioner whose work explores the relationship between the body, presence and how we experience being human.

Her professional career began in theatre, where she has spent more than a decade working as a director and facilitator. She was an Assistant Director on Royal Shakespeare Company mainstage productions including The Duchess of Malfi and Miss Littlewood, working with directors including Maria Åberg and Erica Whyman, and at Chichester Festival Theatre under Jonathan Kent and Jeremy Herrin. She has directed her own work at the Young Vic, Theatre503 and Wilton's Music Hall, and directed more than a dozen productions. She also held the position of Resident Director at the Almeida Theatre.

She was Co-Artistic Director of new-writing company RE:WRITE Theatre.

Working with performers sparked a deeper curiosity about the body. How does it influence the way we communicate, connect and create? What happens to us when pressure rises? And what becomes possible when we learn to listen to the body, rather than simply asking it to keep going?

Floriana went on to complete a First-Class MA in Acting for Screen at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, with training rooted in psychophysical approaches to performance: an embodied approach to the relationship between body, mind, voice, attention and imagination.

Alongside her professional theatre training, she completed 250 hours of yoga teacher training, including 200 hours in Rishikesh and a further 50 hours specialising in Somatic Yin Yoga. Her studies have continued through breathwork, Yoga Nidra, sound healing, interoception and other approaches to embodied awareness.

Over time, these different threads began to come together.

FLOESSENCE grew from a desire to take the practical, embodied disciplines Floriana had spent years learning and practising beyond the rehearsal room, into the places where people are communicating under pressure, making decisions, leading teams and navigating demanding lives.

Today, FLOESSENCE develops the physical skills that support presence, clarity and communication under pressure, through somatic practice rooted in psychophysical actor training.

The work brings together movement, breath, rest, awareness and performance training in a way that is practical, adaptable and grounded in the body.

Alongside FLOESSENCE, Floriana continues to work professionally as a voiceover artist and DJ, keeping her creative practice connected to voice, sound, rhythm and performance.

Because presence isn't simply a personality trait.

It is a skill that can be practised.
